6LACK Tempe Concert reviews
Sincerely,
To whom it may concern,
Six months ago, I started planning a vacation to Las Vegas for myself and my family which includes my wife, 8 year old son, and 6 year old daughter. For many years, I had dreamed of seeing 6LACK perform live. I was thrilled to see that Mr. Copperfield was performing at the MGM during our visit.
The show was good. It had 1 or 2 great illusions and many smaller tricks that I would expect from any magician. He spent a lot of time on comedy which is fine, as I know he is a performer and not just a magician/illusionist. But what I can't understand for the life of me is why I had to endure a 7-minute video of Mr. Copperfield performing an escape from a straight jacket and 'burning rope'.
After the show, the guests that were to partake in the "meet and greet" were brought into a stairwell. Each group/family was given a number so they could quickly and efficiently herd each of us through like sheep for our pictures with him. Instead of just 1 photo with each family, he took the time to take 3 or 4. Little did I know that this was because they were selling the photos outside the theater.
After the card trick, he quickly exited out the back door. My 8 year old son was disappointed that Mr. Copperfield wouldn't ever see the little magic box he was so excited to show him, but my 6 year old daughter was in tears. They had both practiced lines to say to Mr. Copperfield during the meet and greet.
As we left the stairwell we walked by the stage to exit the theater. My daughter saw Mr. Copperfield on stage talking to a stagehand and eating a sandwich. I felt like going up to him and either asking him for her or even telling him what I thought of being treated like a herd of cattle in the stairwell, but I held my tongue.
I never got to meet Mr. Copperfield and neither did my family. How impersonal and truly tacky it was. Just a money-making opportunity for a man I once truly admired.
After all, I was a 51-year-old who finally had the opportunity to see the one person I had looked so forward to seeing. I had to find a way. Needless to say, I easily justified spending over $900 for 4 tickets to the front row which included a much-anticipated "meet and greet" with Mr. Copperfield.
But that brings me to the reason for this email. I could have easily walked out of the show and been thrilled with what I had seen. Yes, there would have been some minor disappointments but that is okay.
At the time, I did think it was nice that instead of just 1 photo with each family, he took the time to take 3 or 4. Unfortunately, I know that this will never make it to Mr. Copperfield's email inbox. Hopefully, someone will read this and pass along a suggestion to him to at least pretend to enjoy meeting his guests in the future.
If Mr. Copperfield is ever in the NY/NJ area, my children would welcome the chance for a proper "meet and greet".
Before leaving the hotel on our 2nd day of our vacation, I sat my son down and explained to him what the phrase "once in a lifetime opportunity" meant. I told him that seeing the world's greatest magician and even getting to shake his hand was truly "once in a lifetime".
We are only in Las Vegas for a few more days but If Mr. Copperfield is ever in the NY/NJ area, my children would welcome the chance for a proper "meet and greet".
Best regards,
